Studying for Finals: 101
By Taryn Gonzales
College can be a stressful time, especially this time of year.  Everyone is studying for finals but all they are thinking about is when it will all be over.  So, it’s important to give that little extra effort when studying. I KNOW you’re tired… and it’s been a long and demanding semester, but remember, it’s almost over. All you need is that little extra push!  And I’d like to provide you with a few tips:
•    If you find it hard to focus, try a different studying atmosphere.  For example, if you usually study with music, try studying in quiet!
•    Try a change of location: get out of your house, apartment or dorm and go to your nearest Barnes & Nobles, library, or even a friend’s house for a study session.
•    Make studying fun!  Try studying with a friend.
•    Have somebody quiz you. Make flashcards. Challenge yourself so it doesn’t feel like such a drag.
•    Take a break when needed.  A light exercise or a bite to eat can often energize you!
Make a change in at least one of your study habits and you will notice a difference.  Doing things that help you keep a healthy body and an alert mind, will help you retain the material better.  And by trying something just a little different, you might end up even having a good time.
I wish all of you ChicaGirls good luck studying this semester! If you study hard, you will be glad you did when you get those AWESOME grades.
