WHY DO POLITICS MATTER? By Toni Lee Jimenez We are living in a period of history and politics in our country, that for the first time, places focus on our generation. The two presidential candidates seem concerned about how the environment, economy and education will affect us in the future. We need to now get involved in our communities in a positive and energetic way. Those of you that can, have a responsibility to vote and let your voice be heard. Whoever you vote for, whatever your beliefs, you need to learn about the candidates’ views on these important issues that will impact our generations for years to come. Those of you who cannot vote—now is the time to inform yourselves; to study the issues; to focus on those studies. Talk to your parents, teachers and friends about the future—before you know it you may find yourselves in a position of leadership.
